New Hampshire State Inspections at Redstone Auto

Keeping you safe, confident, and on the road.

Even though New Hampshire planned to end annual vehicle inspections on January 31, 2026, a federal court ruling requires the state to continue the inspection program for now. That means you still need a valid safety and emissions inspection until further notice.

Because many drivers expected inspections to end, the state has extended the deadline to April 10, 2026, for vehicles with stickers expiring before March.

At Redstone Auto, we’re here to make the process simple, quick, and stress-free.

Do I Still Need an Inspection?

Yes — New Hampshire inspections are still required.

A federal injunction issued on January 27, 2026, paused the repeal and ordered the state to keep the inspection program in place while it waits for EPA approval — a process that could take up to 18 months.

Here’s what that means for you:

  • Annual safety inspections continue.
  • Emissions/OBD testing continues for applicable vehicles.
  • You still must get inspected each year by the end of your birth month.

We know it’s confusing — but we’ve got you covered.

Temporary Deadline Extension

If your inspection sticker expires before March 2026, you now have until April 10, 2026, to get your inspection done.

If your renewal date falls after that window, everything runs on the normal schedule.

Either way, booking with us is fast and easy.

What We Check During Your State Inspection

Our technicians perform the full New Hampshire-required inspection, including:

  • Brakes
  • Tires & tread
  • Suspension & steering
  • Lights, signals & reflectors
  • Windshield & wipers
  • Exhaust system
  • Frame and underbody
  • Emissions/OBD testing (when required)

These checks ensure your vehicle meets New Hampshire’s safety standards under RSA 266, which remain fully enforceable regardless of future inspection changes.

Safety Still Matters — Even If the Law Changes Later

Even if the inspection law eventually ends, New Hampshire’s safety rules do not. Police can still ticket vehicles with visible equipment defects like broken headlights, cracked windshields, or worn-out tires.

A quick inspection with us now can save you headaches — and costly tickets — later.

Commercial Vehicles

Commercial vehicles still require annual inspections under federal law, and nothing about the 2026 changes affects that.

We handle commercial inspections, too.
